The most popular cosmetic treatment in the world to date, Botulinum Toxin Type A, is a simple, injectable treatment that can dramatically reduce your wrinkles within approximately 2 weeks. It offers a long-term treatment for, and prevention of, facial wrinkles, as well as having other important uses, such as in the treatment of excessive sweating under the armpits. Cosmetically we use Botulinum Toxin Type A as a therapy to relax the muscles in the face that create fine lines and wrinkles, and to prevent further deepening of lines. It is a simple 10-minute procedure, with a few, tiny injections directly into the muscles we want to treat. At Nicola Quinn Beauty and Day Spa we prefer to use the Dysport® brand which we source directly from Europe.
Fillers are made from hyaluronic acid or collagen and work by ‘plumping’ up or restoring volume to the area being treated, therefore giving a more youthful appearance.
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that is found in all living organisms, in particular the soft connective tissue in the body and in the fluid surrounding the eyes. Filler injections help to boost the body’s own reserves and reduce the effects of a thinning epidermis.
What is Botox?
Botox® is a natural purified protein that relaxes wrinkle causing muscles creating a smoothed, rejuvenated and more youthful appearance. The active ingredient in Botox is botulinum toxin type A. Our product is sourced from Ireland and is manufactured in sterile laboratory conditions. Botox® is a prescription only medicine and can only be administered by and qualified medical professional.
What does treatment with Botox® involve?
It is a non-surgical treatment whereby a small amount of Botox is injected into selected facial muscles using a very fine needle. It's a simple non-surgical procedure that smooths the deep, persistent facial lines that develop over time. One ten minute treatment - a few tiny injections - relaxes the muscles that cause those lines to form and keeps them relaxed for about 4 months.
Which wrinkles can we target?
We can target your specific problem areas, forehead lines, frown lines and crows feet.
Will my facial expression be affected by Botox® treatment?
Botox works specifically on the targeted muscles. This means that the untreated areas will be unaffected.
How long does Botox® last?
The effects usually last for 3-4 months before lines slowly begin to return. If you have repeat Botox® treatments, the effect tends to last longer.
Can Botox be combines with other products and procedures?
Yes, many people use a combination of cosmedic products and or procedures with Botox. Your clinician will advise you as to whether or not you will receive better or prolonged results if your Botox is combined with other products and procedures.
How do I prepare for my treatment?
Come hydrated, well hydrated skin is less likely to bruise and will feel more comfortable during treatment.
PLEASE NOTE - The consumption of alcohol is prohibited before and during a Botox treatment. Our clinician will be unable to perform the treatment if you are believed to be intoxicated, this will result in a cancellation and our usual cancelation charges will apply.
It is advised that you do not consume alcohol for 24 hours after treatment as this causes dehydration which can increase the chance of slight bruising.
Bring your makeup with you. Makeup wearers may wish to touch up there makeup after treatment as foundation will be removed from treatment areas, However, excessive rubbing after treatment is not advised
Avoid taking any aspirin or aspirin containing products. This will include similar medications, including ibuprofen, Alleve®, Motrin®, and most over the counter analgesic pain medications other than acetominophen (Tylenol®). If you take prescription medications that thin your blood, including (but not limited to) Coumadin® (warfarin) and Plavix®, you should be aware that you are more likely to have bruising from your injections. If you smoke, your likelihood of bruising is also increased. If you bruise easily, you may choose to take a natural supplement called Arnica Montanna. This has been associated with a decreased incidence of bruising.
